The following statement was released on the occasion of the Beardy’s & Okemasis First Nation Sports Days:


“Our community will come together in friendship and in fellowship and show visitors from across the province the hospitality and generosity of the people of the Beardy’s & Okemasis First Nation.

I want to commend the Sports Day Committee for their tremendous effort, their persistence, and their team work in the face of the many obstacles they faced in getting to this day- they did not give up and I know we’re going to have a fantastic weekend.

Congratulations to all the athletes, competitors and organizers. Our community is very proud of what you have accomplished and from our Chief & Council, have a fun and safe weekend!"

Statement from Council

For Immediate Release- September 7, 2011

Beardy's & Okemasis First Nation, SK - The following statement was released on the occasion of Maxine Gamble’s 25 th year of service at the Stobart Elementary School:


“Yesterday, a member of our community was recognized for her service in the Prairie Spirit School Division in Saskatchewan. Maxine Gamble has been teaching and nurturing the young minds of our community at the Stobart Elementary School in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan for 25 years.

Maxine has dedicated her life’s work to fostering positive personal habits and developing in our children a curious and happy spirit. Through her gentle smile and inviting laugh, she has reassured her pupils of her unending commitment to their continued learning.

Her enduring spirit is truly an inspiration and our community is proud to recognize Maxine Gamble and her service! Congratulations Mrs. Gamble on your significant achievement and most importantly, thank you for your love of all our children!”

Statement from the Chief


For Immediate Release- August 31, 2011

Beardy's & Okemasis First Nation, SK - The following statement was released by the Chief on the occasion of the first day of school at Willow Cree Educational Complex, the Constable Robin Cameron Educational Complex, and the Stobart Elementary and High Community Schools:


“As you take your first steps or are coming back into our two wonderful educational facilities, WCEC and CRCEC, or at SCS in Duck Lake, I want to take this opportunity to say how proud your Chief & Council are of you as you begin or resume your educational journey.

It is important that you set goals for yourself and stay focused- on them and your studies. Stay positive and stay off Facebook during class-time. Above all, have respect for those whom you work with and work around.

We are proud you have embarked on you educational journey and are excited about the work you are about to undertake! Best wishes to the Teachers, Staff, and Students in the 2011/2012 Academic Year!”
